The Medieval Festival of Bayeux

The 36th edition of the Medieval Festival will take place in Bayeux from 30 June to 2 July 2023.

This year’s theme is fire. This essential element has been used for many purposes throughout history, from cooking food to benefiting the work of craftsmen.

In the courtyard of the Hôtel du Doyen and on the Place de Gaulle, you’ll be able to discover craftspeople bringing Bayeux’s medieval history back to life. You may also be surprised to bump into a smoking dragon roaming the streets.

One of the highlights of the Medieval Festival is the grande parade, considered to be one of the most significant in France. This year, the parade will take place at night and will feature fire-eaters, jugglers and other fantastic creatures, promising an explosive start to the festivities.

Another not-to-be-missed event is the fire display on Saturday night in the gardens of the Hôtel du Doyen, where mysterious Zoolians will perform a hypnotic presentation of percussion beats. You can also stroll through the medieval market, watch historical re-enactments and witness artisans craft unique objects.

From the opening parade to street performances, historical camps and the market, Bayeux once again offers a fantastic journey through time. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover the eclectic mix of history and fantasy that is the Bayeux Medieval Festival over three days.
